Kornel Nemeth 2nd in the Canadian Championship!
The 2010 Canadian Championship came to its end last weekend, after 9 tough rounds Kornel Nemeth finished second overall. The last round took place on the hardpacked track of Walton, and although it isn’t his favourite, he was very looking forward to it.
The start of Kornel’s Canadian season was very tough and difficult. He went to Canada hoping for wins, but after two rounds he was 10th. The few week long break was enough for him to make things clear in his mind and coming back stronger aiming for podium positions.
His starts got better and round by round it was easier for him to keep up with the leaders. Before the last round Kornel was second in the championship, he had only 15 points advantage on Kiniry who was third. So Nemeth only had to do as good as he did in the previous races to keep his 2nd place.
In the first moto after a great start he finished second behind Kiniry. In the second race he was 6th, 5th later improved and finished 4th in the last race of the 2010 Canadian Championship. Nemeth stepped up on the podium again, just like he did it in the last four rounds.
“I can say that my dream came true. When I was a kid it was always a dream for me to stand on the podium in North America. Now this dream came true. Big Yoda master (my father) always says, your biggest enemy is yourself. I was fighting with this all year long. Unfortunately I put too much pressure on myself until the half of the championship and could hardly deal with this. Finally I overcame myself, stepped over my shadow, leaving every bad thing behind that happened during the winter, and just going forward.
The 10 position penalty in Gopher fagged me pretty much, because I knew this could be very important in the overall result. Finally I made it to finish top3 in the championsip. In Canada KTM didn’t finish in top3 in MX1 class before, and I’m very happy that this sticks to my name too."
After the tough beginning Kornel Nemeth stood up and with fantastic races clinched the second position in the championship.
